PlaceKenny Bond has been riding motorcycles since he was 10 years
old. His first bike was a Honda SL-70 and boy did he "Love
that bike"...
At eleven, Kenny had the
opportunity to start riding for a motorcycle shop called the
"Motorcycle Mad Man". Over the next 4 year,
young Bond continued to represent the shop on several different brands of
bikes to include Indian's, Hodaka's, Husky's and Penton's.
When the Honda Elsinore's were released, the
125's became Kenny's favorite and he just had to have one.
Kenny and long time childhood friends, Gary Davis & Todd Gardner,
raced against each other in the mini class on Indian motorcycles
when they were 11 to 12 years old. Gary and Todd dropped
out of racing in 1973. After that, Bond acquired the Elsinore machine
and competed successfully
throughout Texas for a few more years.
Thirty years later and after several years
away from the sport, Bond, Davis, Gardner and Gowdy are now actively involved in
vintage motocross racing on some of the brands they competed on
when they we younger.
